This past fall, Trinity’s 7th and 8th graders competed in a patriotic essay contest sponsored by VFW Post 680 in Lexington, Kentucky. Our students took all three of the top awards and continued to the district level where two earned top awards there as well.
The veterans at VFW Post 680 generously sponsored an awards ceremony on Tuesday, January 20, at their post. Our students and their families enjoyed a time of fellowship and celebration and were able to express their gratitude to the veterans who were present.
Congratulations to Nehemiah H. (1st place), Olive H. (2nd place), and Shaelyn E. (3rd place.). Nehemiah and Olive also placed first and second at the district level and will continue on to regionals.
We are so thankful for our middle school history teacher, Cindy Reasoner, for mentoring and teaching our students and for the veterans at VFW Post 680, who recently donated three flag poles to our Cowen Campus. This essay contest was the perfect opportunity for our students to honor our country and show support for those veterans and their service.
