Nurturing Beauty through the Arts

The Fine and Performing Arts Department at Trinity Christian Academy exists to nurture beauty, glorify God, and bless others through choral and instrumental music, drama, dance, and the visual arts.

We seek to advance creativity through hands-on instruction by delivering an accessible, inclusive, and meaningful curriculum. Our goal is to give students an opportunity to be intellectually informed, well-prepared for their future careers in any art form, and live a God-filled life with creativity and beauty.

Fine Arts at the Lower Campus

Art

Early Learning Art

PreK–Grade 2 focuses on fostering creativity and imagination. Students practice and develop their fine motor skills and learn to pay attention to detail.

School of Grammar Art

Grades 3-5 learn about artists of the time periods they study in history and create their own imaginative expressions of art that imitate the styles of the masters.

Music

Early Learning Music

Our students in PreK-Grade 2 focus on listening in order to match pitch, exploring patterns of rhythm and movement, and singing a wide variety of types of music.

School of Grammar Music

Grades 3-5 progress in their learning about the language of music by practicing what they know about notes, rests, dynamics, and rhythm; they learn more about melody, chant, and the Solfege Method.

Theater Arts

Trinity’s Lower School Drama Club gives 4th and 5th-grade students a creative, after-school outlet to grow their performance skills and stage confidence. Students learn theatrical basics, rehearse together, and audition for parts in our Lower School spring play, gaining valuable hands-on experience in production and teamwork along the way..

Fine Arts at the Upper Campus

Art

All students in grades 6-9 take art, learning artistic techniques and styles of historical times and completing projects of varying genres. Elective courses Art II – Art IV are avenues for students in grades 10-12 to practice and develop skills in memory drawing, creative composition, and quick sketch.

Chorus Instrumental Ensembles

In grades 6-9, all students participate in a musical group of their choice, including chorus, worship arts (9th-12th), or instrumental ensembles. Grades 10-12 may choose to continue to participate in a music elective of their chose. Students learn musicianship in the context of a group and perform in concerts for the school and community.

Theatre Arts

Fall Play

Students in the Schools of Logic and Rhetoric can audition for a part in our Upper Campus fall play.

Spring Musical

Students in the Schools of Logic and Rhetoric can audition for a part in our Upper Campus spring musical productions.

Cafe Nights

Evening performances of musical pieces and dramatic presentations by individuals, small groups, and choral groups from the Schools of Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric.

Fine Arts Opportunities

The Trinity Singers is an after-school choral group for 4th and 5th-grade students. The ensemble rehearses once a week after school to build foundational vocal skills, teamwork, and musical confidence. Throughout the year, members perform at various school programs, chapel services, and special events.

The Lower School Drama Club provides 4th and 5th-grade students with an opportunity to explore theater arts, build stage presence, and develop public speaking skills. Club members audition for individual roles and work together to produce Trinity’s annual spring play.

The Middle and High School Chorus gives students an opportunity to cultivate their vocal talents during the school day. Offered as an elective, this choir focuses on music theory, ensemble singing, and performance skills. Members showcase their hard work by performing at various school programs and events throughout the academic year.

Offered during the elective hour, the Instrumental Ensemble provides middle and high school musicians with an opportunity to hone their technical skills, practice ensemble coordination, and explore a variety of musical genres. Members collaborate during the school day to prepare performances for various school programs and events throughout the year.

Cafe Nights are an opportunity for Trinity students to express their passion for performing arts. This night showcases student talent in music, drama, and visual arts. Our students always blow us away with their talent and love of art!

Trinity’s Middle and High School Theater Program gives 6th through 12th-grade students a creative platform to develop their acting talents and passion for the performing arts. Highlighted by our two mainstage productions—a fall play and a full-scale spring musical—students gain hands-on experience in every aspect of production, from auditions and character study to set design and live performance.

Trinity’s High School Worship Arts elective gives 9th through 12th-grade students a dedicated space during their elective period to grow as spiritual and musical leaders. Combining worship theology with hands-on technical and musical practice, students put their training into active service each week as they plan, rehearse, and lead weekly chapel worship for our school community.
