Early Learning at Trinity

Trinity’s Early Learning program is guided by three foundational questions that we ask about each child entrusted to our care: Who are they? Where are they? What will they become?

Who are they?

They are image bearers of God. Each child is like a special piece of art designed by the creativity of God, and we want to foster an environment where that art comes alive. At Trinity, children discover their unique gifts, passions, loves; their unique glory as an image bearer of God.

Where are they?

They are in the early stages of development. In preschool and kindergarten, it is important for children to discover God’s amazing world without the pressures of academics. We want to foster a love of learning by encouraging curiosity, creativity, and imagination. During this stage children also need an environment where they feel safe, nurtured, and loved, which, in turn, builds their confidence and willingness to take risks, ask questions, and speak up.

What will they become?

They are at the beginning of a much greater education process, so we bear in mind not just where they are, but where they will be upon graduation from Trinity. Our Early Learning program exists within a framework referred to as the classical model, where each year of education intentionally builds upon the other. The role of early education within classical learning is to provide a foundation to the model, preparing students for their journey of education.

Our PreK curriculum includes instruction and activities in Bible, literature and language development, writing, mathematics, science, history, art, music, and physical activity.  Geography is integrated into units so children can begin developing a sense of where people live and work, as well as where events happened in history and where they are taking place today. Biblical concepts are interwoven into all areas of instruction.

For children who are 4 years old by August 1, Trinity offers 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day per week classes. Half-day classes are held from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m., and full-day classes are held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Our Junior Kindergarten is an excellent option for children who are a little too young for kindergarten, but who would benefit from a class that is a step up from a typical PreK.

Kindergarten is a vital year in the education of a young child. It is a time to capture the curiosity that comes naturally to little ones. Curiosity is a God-given way to acquire information for the growing mind and, through it, to awaken the senses and fuel the wonder of learning.

Trinity offers full-day and half-day Kindergarten classes for children 5+ years old. Full-day classes are held daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Half-day classes are held daily from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
