The inaugural Trinity middle school academic team participated in the district Governor’s Cup Competition at King Middle School in Harrodsburg on Tuesday, January 13, and Saturday, January 17, competing in a variety of of individual and team academic competitions against West Jessamine Middle School, East Jessamine Middle School, and King Middle School.
In the teams competition, the quick recall team advanced through the double elimination tournament without a loss, with three consecutive victories of 22-8, 21-7, and 25-12, to earn a district quick recall championship. Quick recall team members were Elena I., Ivy R., Eliza W., Gracie M., Victoria T., and Kate A. The future problem solving team of Elena I., Gracie M., Ivy R., and Eliza. W also scored a first place finish.
Both of these teams will move along to the regional tournament.
In the individual competitions, Trinity students placed in the following categories, earning a trip to compete in these subjects at the regional tournament.

The Trinity team was also honored with the Hume Award for outstanding sportsmanship as voted on by team members of all district schools. This is a great honor and a testament to the kindness and character of our team members in the tournament.
The best part of the weekend was a surprise visit by their biggest fan, Mrs. Kenney, who drove to Harrodsburg, led the team in a prayer before the first match, and spent her day rooting the quick recall team onto a championship. Thank you for the support, Mrs. Kenney!
Trinity winning teams and students will move along to compete in these areas at next month’s KAAC regional tournament at Woodford County Middle School.
