High School Guidance Information
With more than 3,000 colleges and universities in the United States, selecting a school that is just right for a student can be overwhelming. Trinity Christian Academy provides a College Counseling Program that supports students through all four years of high school. This program helps students explore their unique strengths and interests, with the ultimate goal of gaining admission to colleges and universities that best fit their individual abilities and ambitions. The most recent evidence of the success of our program is found in the 16 members of the Class of 2018—students earned in excess of $3 million in merit scholarship offers, for an average of over $200,000 per student.
Trinity’s College Counseling Program includes:
Exploration of college options to find the “best fit” college for each individual student
Individual and family counseling and planning sessions
Matching interests, skills, and God-given abilities to possible majors and careers
Preparation for college admissions testing
Help with essay writing and building a college resume
Assisting juniors in the planning phase of college selection
Assisting seniors through each phase of the college application and commitment process
Information for Current Trinity Students
Transcripts
Please complete a Transcript Request Form for each transcript you would like sent and turn the forms in to the Trinity Upper School office. Be sure to put the address for the college admissions office on each form.
Teacher Recommendations
Trinity teachers are glad to write recommendations for students. Before giving the Letter of Recommendation Form to teachers, students must complete their section. Please plan to give teachers at least two weeks to write their recommendations.
Student Resume
The student resume is a highly useful document for Trinity students that compiles all of their personal information, as well as academic, extracurricular, community service, standardized test, and summer experience information they will need to have when applying to college. The resume helps the College Counseling office and faculty members advocate on behalf of students for colleges and universities of interest.
Ideally, students should maintain their student resume throughout their high school career. In addition to taking Trinity’s challenging academic courses, students should also pursue extracurricular activities, such as involvement and leadership in clubs, sports, fine and performing arts, student government organizations, community service, and employment. These activities show college admissions representatives the various ways a prospective student might positively impact their community.
