Home » Archery Team Right on Target

From Andy Newman, Archery Coach:
Our first tournament is in the books, and Coach Miller and I could not be more proud of how our kids performed and conducted themselves at the range today. The boys and girls handled the pressure of the first ever competitive event for Trinity Archery with grace and confidence. We saw shooting as good and in some cases better than we’ve seen in practice during our first two weeks, and at the end of the day, that is as much as we can ask for.
Our team score for high school was 2928, and we did finish 4th out of the four high school teams at the event. But our score was competitive, and at the end of the morning session we held the lead. Wolfe Co. and Lee Co. came in this afternoon and shot lights out – they showed us where we want to be with our own program down the road. The takeaway here is that two weeks after not having an archery program at all, we stacked up pretty well against some good public school teams. Wolfe Co. also outscored us by a considerable margin at the middle school level, but we are nevertheless proud of our middle and lower school archers – they impressed with their poise and consistent shooting.
Joshua Blunt, 5th grade, achieved third place among elementary boys, bringing home the first trophy for Trinity Archery. He shot an amazing 251 for the day, an exceptional score for his experience level.
